Lewis Express play the soul jazz sounds of Ramsey Lewis and funky trios of the 60's.
When the Ramsey Lewis trio had a Number 1 hit in 1965 with The In Crowd they brought a swinging sound incorporating jazz with elements of Gospel,Soul and down home funk right into the mainstream. Hits like Wade in the Water, Mercy, Mercy, Mercy and Cantaloupe Island popularised jazz massively and many piano and hammond organ trios enjoyed long spells of popularity around this time.
On this Fiday night, after a splendid dinner, we feature the talented Trio of Taz Modi - keyboards, Neil Innes - bass and Kri's Wright on percussion performing for us a shake 'n' finger popping soundtrack to start your weekend with not only a spring in your step but a little two step shuffle too.
