Enoteca - the study of all aspects of wine by drinking it in a comfortable environment.
Salvo's owners John and Gip Dammone have recently opened their new prosecco bar and have named it in memory of their mother Nunzia. Enoteca Nunzia is situated above the award winning Salvos restaurant in Headingley. An old photo of Nunzia astride a Vespa takes pride of place on the wall below the vintage 1970’s Vespa parked above the bar.
Enoteca Nunzia is a comfortable bar for guests to enjoy a fine glass of wine or chilled Prosecco accompanied by small snacks (spuntini) created to complement the drinks.
Whilst enjoying a drink guests can choose songs on the Seeburg Matador jukebox, as seen in the iconic movie ‘Goodfella’s’ and hear some of the original 60’s vinyl 45’s the young Dammone brothers listened to in Salvo’s first coffee bars in Leeds, the blue Gardenia, Gino’s and the Unicorn Café.
The Prosecco bar was also opened to offer gallery space for emerging artists to display their work for 12 months at a time. The first ‘pittrice d’arte della casa’ or artist in residence is Lori Rebequ with her collection of abstract landscape oil-pourings, ‘Hidden Visions.’
Salvo's will donate 10 per cent of sales from the exhibition to Wheatfields Hospice and Lori has pledged to donate a further 10 per cent to ANTar (Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation) and ACAS (the Aboriginal Children’s Advancement Society).
Enoteca Nunzia is a chance for customers to share in the family’s love of wine, food, art and music.
Enoteca is open Monday to Saturday evenings from 6.00pm.
