THE Italians are renowned for romance, but even by their standards this was the perfect recipe for love. Wendy Harris and Maxwell Hall took time out from their busy jobs at two Italian restaurants to tie the knot.
Love blossomed between the pair when they met at Salvo's in Headingley, Leeds , over five years ago.
Wendy, then a 19-year-old student at Leeds Metropolitan University, was working as a part-time waitress at the Italian eaterie, where Maxwell was a chef. "She was really bouncy and happy all the time," recalled Maxwell, 29, and now head chef at the Salute restaurant in Oulton. "I think that's what first attracted me to her."
Both Salvo's, where Wendy is now general manager, and Salute closed for the day so that staff could make it to the couple's big day.
The role of best man was performed by the head chef at Salvo's, Mick Leggiero, while Ruth Jackson, secretary of Salvo's, made the couple's wedding cake.
Wendy, 25, said: "I was so happy that all of the staff were able to be there for the wedding."Salvo's is such an important place to me now. Not only is it my place of work but it holds deeper memories of when I first met Max."
Maxwell added: "We've both been with them for so many years that we are like a family now. They were thrilled to bits when we told them we were getting married." The couple, who live in Woodlesford, are honeymooning in Florida before heading back to their respective restaurants.
Co-owner of both restaurants, Geppino Dammone, said: "The staff at our restaurants are all very close friends, and none of us would have wanted to miss the day. "We were happy and proud to close both of our restaurants as a mark of respect for the couple. We wish them every happiness in their new life together."
