Popular Leeds restaurant, Salvo’s, is serving pictures among
the pizzas with a new four month exhibition of paintings
prepared by LGS AS Level students.
Working to a brief from Salvo’s owner, Mr Gip Dammone,
the Year 12 students have each created an image based on
the theme of ‘food’ as part of their examination studies. The
paintings are the end result of the students’ first unit of AS
level work and the culmination of a number of development
studies in which they explored ideas and media.
“The standard of work is incredibly high,” says Salvo’s
proprietor, Gip Dammone, who is known for featuring local
artists in his restaurant. “There are some vibrant, eyecatching
images and I’m sure they’ll be a talking point with
our customers.”
Diners at Salvo’s are encouraged to give the students critical
feedback by registering their opinion of the paintings in a
comments book. Many of the paintings are also available for
sale. Other LGS artwork is on display at Weetwood Hall.
