Leeds positively teems with places to eat Italian. But one of the few to go beyond the basics of pasta and pizza is Salvo's in Headingley, a Leeds institution that has been serving simple Mediterranean food in a buzzing atmosphere for decades. It's still packed to the gunwales 30 years since it first opened, when customers would queue round the block to eat here. Try spicy crushed chickpeas with pitta bread or veal with Parma ham and Taleggio.
