Queues form early outside this small, family-run trattoria in a parade of suburban shops. Regulars still mourn the retirement of John & Gip Dammone’s uncle who would belt out arias as he tended his pizza oven, but the place still retains a crackling informality. The dining room looks modern Mediterranean & the menu, while featuring fine pasta & light cooked-to-order pizzas, has a modern impulse too. Fish is always a strong suit. Student diners add to the noise & brio. Salvo’s Salumeria two doors down also have a half dozen tables & a simple menu of salads, sandwiches & hot dishes created from a select Italian deli counter.
