Leeds & Yorkshire Lawyer December 2009

Salvo's in Headingley, Leeds was given some last-minute legal advice before being featured on Gordon Ramsay The F Word TV show. A partner from Clarion Solicitors was having lunch in the restaurant that day and on hearing that the restaurant had not registered its name as a trademark, promptly alerted the firm's intellectual property team which sprang into action.

Leigh Martin, lead partner in Clarion's IP department, said: "On hearing that the restaurant was to appear on national TV, we felt it was crucial that it protected its hard-earned name and reputation.

"We were able to act quickly to take the client's instructions and to prepare and file an application that same afternoon before The F Word went on air."

He continued: "Having watched the show and seen Salvo's crowned as The F Word's best local Italian restaurant, no doubt its fame will spread even further, but the Salvo's name will remain a Yorkshire institution."
