The prestigious Outstanding Achievement award is awarded to people of at least 10 years work in the industry and who have been recognised as being a beacon and a leading light during that time.
Head of the Judging Panel David Sowden of Leeds City College, presenting the award jointly to brothers Gip and John Dammone, commented on how much Gip and John had done for raising the profile of the Leeds dining scene, and in particular showing Gordon Ramsay that there was exemplary food to be found north of the M25 after winning the coveted F word UK’s Best Neighbourhood Italian Restaurant. David went on to praise the tireless work that Salvo’s has done in raising educational standards in cookery by working in partnership with the Thomas Danby Campus of Leeds City College to provide an input on the shaping of the curriculum as well as giving workshops at the college, and being an inspiration to the next generation of chefs to enter the industry.
The award for Best Website comes hot on the heels of Salvo’s being a runner up in the nationwide Caterer Magazine Best Restaurant Website award earlier this year.
