The Salvo’s Story
Benvenuti!
Salvatore Dammone opened Salvo’s Restaurant in 1976. This year sees us celebrating 40 years in the business, Salvo’s still remains one of the most innovative Italian restaurants in the region serving contemporary Italian food in an informal relaxed atmosphere, a simple consistent formula which has kept thousands of fantastic customers coming back for more.
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
In 1977 we completed our first year in Headingley.
We already had many regulars who came for their weekly fix of pasta and pizza. Other places to eat in the area included Mr Natural. Later called Café Caliente owned and operated by Peter which served, possibly the best Mexican/Southwestern food in Leeds. Then there was The Nosebag on North Lane and Preachers Diner serving American style hamburgers behind the Skyrack. Armstrong’s on Monkbridge Road, owned by Mr Armstrong, one of my catering college tutors, served classic French Cuisine in elegant surroundings. This was the offering in those days.
We are proud to continue on our fathers’ vision of bringing southern Italian hospitality to this corner of Leeds.
